Built on the banks of the south arm of the Tweed River, Uki Village is also close to Clarrie Hall Dam, a local beauty spot and water supply for the people of the Tweed Valley.

The Naming of Uki Uki - pronounced Yook-eye - is said have derived it's name from the Aboriginal name for the edible root of an swamp fern found in the area. Clarrie Hall Dam ![]() Built on a tributary of the Tweed River, Doon Doon Creek, Clarrie Hall Dam has a storage capacity of 16,000 mega-litres of water, is the major off-river water storage facility for Tweed Shire and is capable of supporting the water needs for a population of some 160,000 people. Activities permitted on Clarrie Hall Dam include canoeing, boating (electric motor, sail or paddle power only) and fishing. The Dam is stocked with Australian Bass and an annual fishing competition is organised and run by the Australian Bass Association. Clarrie Hall Dam also supports several significant bird species, including the vulnerable comb-crested jacana (Irediparra gallinacea) and the endangered black-necked stork (Ephippiorhynchus asiaticus). The Recreation Area is perfect for photography, bird watching, nature observation, environmental studies, picnicking and bush walking. ![]() Facilities include gas and wood barbecues (wood supplied), shelter sheds, picnic tables and chairs, toilets and a children’s playground. The Dam is open during daylight hours only. A NSW Fishing licence is required to fish here.
Hare Krishna Ashram
Three kilometres west of Mt Warning, just outside Uki Village is a six acre Hare Krishna Ashram, Sri Govinda Dham, the headquarters of Sri Chaitanya Saraswat Math in Australia. All are welcome to join devotees for a feast every Sunday afternoon, whilst special festivals are celebrated on all major holy days.
